Nanjing Automotive Forging Co., Ltd. — Corporate Slogan Transcreation

When a Sino-foreign joint venture backed by SAIC and Spain's CIE Automotive needs its corporate philosophy to resonate beyond borders, precision of a different kind is required. This project involved transcreating the company's vision, mission, core values, and philosophy from Chinese into English — not word for word, but concept for concept. Slogans like 力与火,精与敏 ("Vigor and Spark, Excellence and Agility") demanded language that could honor the weight of the original while speaking naturally to a global industrial audience. The result balances the grit of the forging industry with the clarity and confidence expected of a world-class manufacturer ranked among the top global auto parts suppliers.

The Spark That Says It All

Transcreation is at its best when a single word earns its place on multiple levels at once. Take "Vigor and Spark" — the English rendering of 力与火 ("strength and fire"). On the surface, it captures energy and drive. Look closer, and "spark" conjures the flash of metal under the hammer, the heat and light of the forge itself. It speaks to an industrial audience in their own visual language while remaining crisp and memorable to anyone encountering the brand for the first time. This is what separates transcreation from translation: not just finding equivalents, but finding words that carry the full weight of an image, a culture, and an industry in a single breath.
